Description:

Available For: Licensing and collaborative development

Summary

{{start}} Based on research at UCL Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering Department, SnakeGrid® Transformer is a plug-in software module for the Bentley MicroStation CAD package and allows the conversion of Bentley MicroStation design files "on the fly" between different SnakeGrids®, London Survey Grid, British National Grid settings and local grids such as the Reading Grid. {{end}}

The Technology and its Advantages

SnakeGrid® Transformer has been developed keeping in mind the surveying industry's needs. The latest software module developed in partnership with dhp11 Ltd, is a very handy tool for survey engineers having to use CAD design packages. It also handles raster data and provides additional facility of batch processing.

The SnakeGrid® Transformer is a plug-in module for the Bentley MicroStation CAD package. It enables engineers and surveyors to convert Bentley MicroStation design files "on the fly" between different SnakeGrids® e.g. British National Grid settings and local grids such as the Reading Grid.

The SnakeGrid® Transformer application runs with MicroStation V8 as well as advanced versions. This means that the MicroStation V8 application should already be installed and running on the machine that the SnakeGrid® Transformer application is going to be run on.

Bespoke versions of the product are being developed particularly for the handheld devices used by surveyors e.g. PocketDTM.

Market Opportunity

The market opportunity is mainly with rail companies, surveying companies and engineering infrastructure companies. The product has already been licensed to a major British Rail company, and UCL Business has received expression of interest from other civil engineering surveying companies.

UCL Business is open to further collaborations mainly to develop bespoke solutions in AutoCAD environment and handheld devices used by surveyors

Intellectual Property Status

SnakeGrid® is a Registered Trademark of UCL Business PLC
